The Anambra State Government in line with agenda of technology everywhere and everything technology has launched the first time ever Anambra State civil service Electronic Identity card scheme, E-ID Card Scheme.

 

It is in line with Governor Soludo led administration’s initiative to strengthen identity management geared towards full digitization of civil service and governance in Anambra State.

During an interactive occasion held at the Head of Service Conference Hall, Gerome Udorji State Secretariat, Awka, featured official unveiling of the E-ID Card Scheme and lectures on how civil servants can come onboard effortlessly.

 

In her address, the Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, said that the scheme can significantly enhance service delivery for Anambra State civil servants.

She explained that the digitizing identification processes will enable civil servants access government services more conveniently, reduce paperwork and minimize the need for physical presence.

 

Barrister Igwegbe emphasized that in the face of digital age, the implementation of e-government initiatives has become imperative for efficient and transparent governance.

 

She assured that the system is safe and secure as robust cyber security measures are being put in place including encryption, firewalls and regular audits adding that plans are underway to provide free internet services for civil servants.

 

In his remark, the Commissioner for Industry, Mr Christian Udechukwu who commended initiative said that ICT drives the fourth industrial revolution and harped on the need for everyone to come onboard giving its enormous benefits.

On his part, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr Fred Agbata said that the initiative was part of the agency’s determination to support Governor Soludo achieve the agenda of technology everywhere and everything technology.

 

He said that the essence is to strengthen identity management so that government and citizens can easily identify civil servants and other government employees targeted at curbing impersonation, ghost workers and improving efficiency and effectiveness in the system.

Mr Agbata commended Governor Soludo for promoting access to technology in all areas of public sector and his efforts to digitize governance in Anambra State and assured greater commitment.

The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Don Onyenji among other stakeholders attended the event.
