People of Anaocha Local Government Area have poured encomium on Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the massive palm and coconut seedlings cultivation initiative, describing the gesture as a move towards economic emancipation of people of the state.
Governor Soludo received the commendations shortly after the flag-off of the initiative at Anaocha Local Government Headquarters in Neni.
The massive palm and coconut seedlings cultivation initiative is part of efforts of the present administration towards achieving its green, livable and prosperous homeland agenda to save Ndi Anambra from poverty.
One of the beneficiaries of the coconut seedlings from Agulu, Rita Enemuo said the gesture was a unique move in a right direction, noting that in the next few years, many Ndi Anambra will be free from poverty, owing to the fact that benefits of palm and coconut trees are enormous.
Another beneficiary, Mr Chukwudi Ezezulumba who said that various people-oriented programmes and interventions of the present Professor Soludo led administration is commendable, observed that if the method will be adopted by all levels of government in the country, crime and criminality will reduce, even as he promised to nurture his own seedlings to maturity for his own benefit.
On their parts, the Head of Agricultural Department of Anaocha Council Area, Mrs Chinasa Ezeobi, and the Agriculture Supervisory Counsellor for the Council Area, Mr Jonas Nkwokamba said that this is the second time Governor Soludo is distributing the seedlings in the area, describing the gesture as an encouragement to people to embrace agriculture for food sufficiency and reduction of poverty and unemployment rate in this part of the world, and promised to guide the beneficiaries of the seedlings on how to nurture them to ensure positive results in the next few years.
In an interview, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anaocha Local Government Area, Chief Ikechukwu Ozor, thanked Governor Soludo for making agriculture one of the major instruments to boost the economy of the state, recalling that in the past, it was around agriculture that the economy of Nigeria was built on before the emergence of crude oil, advising people to change their narratives about agriculture, as according to him, agriculture is a very lucrative venture that can lift one out of poverty.
