The Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye has urged Ndi Anambra to maximize the opportunities in coconut and palm seedlings distributed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo across the twenty-one Local government areas in the state in order to reap its economic benefits.
Political Correspondent Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that Chief Obi-Okoye made the call in Awka while commenting on the second phase of the project.
He explained that the five hundred thousand palm oil seedlings, one hundred and seventy thousand coconut seedlings distributed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo will boost the economy and rejuvenate the culture of coconut plantation in every family compound.
Chief Obi-Okoye observed that coconut fruit which Ndi Ndigbo used to offer as little food to visitors many years ago is now very difficult to find in many homes and urged the people to key into it and be patient in its development process in order to reap the economic benefits.
He maintained that the project will re-awaken the culture of coconut planting in the state, save the environment from erosion menace and guarantee economic prosperity to the people.
Contributing, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Chief Boniface Egbutu who described Agriculture as the main stay of the Nation’s economy before the advent of oil, said that the distribution of coconut seedlings by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in Anambra State will no doubt boost the production of cocoanut in the State.
He charged those that received the coconut seedlings to make its judicious use, adding that the product will go a long way in improving their economy.
Chief Egbutu who is a community leader at Nise in Awka South Local Government Area commended Governor Soludo for his interest in Agriculture.
