As Anglican fathers nationwide celebrate this year’s Fathers’ Sunday today, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, has called on parents to commit selves to godly teaching and training of their children, so as to raise godly children.
Archbishop Ibezim, who is also the Bishop of Awka Anglican Diocese, described fathers as pillars of every home and commended them for the leadership roles they play in their families irrespective of all odds.
The theme for this year’s Father’s Sunday is ‘the role of Christian Family in a time like this”.
While imploring parents to not only meet the material and physical needs of their families, the Archbishop advised fathers not to provoke their children to anger or abuse them, but raise them up according to the instructions of God.
Lending his voice, the Chaplain, Father’s Fellowship, Anglican Communion, and Archdeacon, Amawbia Archdeaconry, Venerable Vincent Nkemdilim, enjoined Christian families to rise up to their responsibilities, look into their families and desist from those attitudes that negatively affect the society and deface their families.
