The President National council for Women societies, Anambra State chapter, Lady Theresa Nnalue has advocated stiffer penalties against those using under aged girls for sex slavery.
Speaking to the ABS in Awka on the incessant cases where young girls are being lured into prostitution by those who claim to offer them employment and help them to come out of poverty, the P it%resident of the National council of Women societies in Anambra State described it as a dangerous trend capable of marring the future of such young girls.
Lady Theresa Nnalue commended the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, and Social Welfare Mrs Ify Obinabo for all her efforts towards securing a bright future for the women folk especially as it concerns widows that are being maltreated by the family members of their deceased husbands.
She described the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Anambra State Mrs Obinabo as an Amazon, who has carved a niche for herself in ensuring the wellbeing of the Women, Children and girls urging her to sustain the tempo.
Lady Theresa Nnalue maintained that the recent rescue of under aged girls being used for sex slavery at Amawbia in Awka South local government area calls for concern and charged mothers to always monitor the kind of company their children keep.
The President of the National Council for Women Societies in Anambra State, commended the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo for all her support to various disadvantaged families in Anambra State, especially the ongoing free treatment of Children with cleft lip and palate which she is carrying out with the support of the Smile Train and prayed God to continue to guide and guard her and family.
Lady Theresa Nnalue used the opportunity to call on the people of Anambra State to see the development of the State as a collective responsibility, warning them against acts capable of retarding the wave of development going on across the State.
