Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation has organized its fourth edition of Science Quiz Award ceremony in Awka.

 

The exercise which was held at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development centre, Awka attracted students, teachers, principals, officials of the Anambra State Post Primary School Service Commission and the clergy, among others.

Speaking during the exercise, the founder of the foundation, Dr. Chinedu Umeadi, who is a Canadian based medical doctor, stated that the competition was aimed at stimulating students across the African continent to improve their knowledge base in different subjects, adding that the foundation gives prizes to the best schools and awards scholarships to the best students from the quiz competitions.

Dr. Umeadi who explained that there is also a structured scholarships programmes to university entry examinations, stated that the day was meant to celebrate the award-winning students and schools and urged them to sustain the feat they have achieved so far.

 

The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone who was the Chairman of the event, urged the students to always strive to be the best, and ensure that they take their studies seriously as well as always utilize every opportunity given to them.

For the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, body and soul must be taken care of to have a balanced personality and urged the award-winning students to discipline themselves for them to achieve all they want in life.

 

Miss Arinze Esther of Maria Regina Memorial Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi was the overall winner in the junior secondary school category and went home with two hundred-thousand-naira cash, while Mr. Ezejames Daniel of Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha, was the overall best in the senior secondary school category and smiled home with three hundred-thousand-naira cash.

The two students prayed God to bless Dr. Umeadi for his benevolence.

 

Cultural dance, goodwill messages from the participants and presentations of awards to the students and schools climaxed the event.
