Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen have been urged to strengthen ynergy and good working relationship with council workers to actualize Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision.
The Chairman,Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Barrister Vin Ezeaka who made the call while presenting a paper titled “Local Government Administration Working In Synergy With Civil Servants Towards Achieving The Solution Agenda” , during a forum at Agulu, noted that the Council Chairmen should drive the
Solution Agenda at grassroots which encapsulate a multidimensional development strategy for Anambra State.
Barrister Ezeaka outlined numerous impediments militating against synergy and causes of conflict in the Local Government system which include, poor communication and management skills, inordinate ambition, undue favoritism and nebulous defined job roles among others as interpersonal nuances that may give rise to conflict of interests in the day to day business of Local Government administration.
He lamented that truancy and corruption have brought huge financial and economic losses to the Council and frowned at the findings that about 90% senior staff of Local Government administration live outside their work environment leading to social disconnect and lack of synergy between the Local Councils and Grassroots with the attendant lack of meaningful infrastructural development which the Solution Agenda seek to address.
He urged the Transition Committee members to be ” Solution conscious” and act as agent of change through qualitative leadership anchored on measurable and evaluative indices as well as to embrace”System Thinking and Change Begins With Me “attitude as their Silver Lining.
.
The Commission Chairman admonished the Transition Committee members to live above board, shun conflict triggers such as undue favoritism, divide and rule, violation of right of workers and to apply the principle of fairness and discipline equally among local Government personnel as well as integrate cooperation, coordination, collaboration and consultation to maintain synergy and contribute towards achieving the Solution Agenda.
