Construction of Flyover Bridge at Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area is gradually taking shape as the contractor has commenced piling at the site.

 

Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri monitored pace of work on the site and reports that when ABS arrived the site, massive work was on going as men of the AG Vision, the firm handling the project were seen doing various levels of work.

A lot of heavy duty equipment was seen on site with materials readily available for use.

 

It was also observed that clearing of the surface where the flyover bridge will be sited has been completed which gave way to the first major work involved in construction of the flyover bridge, which is piling.

Speaking to the ABS, the site Engineer, Mr Nawar Beeb, said that they commenced work on twentieth of June and having concluded the clearing, they are now moving into the piling of the ground where they will cast the beams and pillars of the bridge.

 

Engineer Beeb commended the relationship between the firm and the host community whom he noted is very hospitable even as he thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for playing his part well towards the actualization of the project which has eighteen months schedule.

On his part, the Resident Engineer, Mr Chike Izuegbu, the Project Consultant said they are happy with the pace and quality of work done so far, noting that the contractor is moving very fast to complete the project.

 

He added that over eighty percent of workers at site are indigenes of the area, adding that the project was not just to give the area a face lift, but it also provided a lot of direct jobs for youths of the area.

 

The President-General Ekwulobia Town Union Chief Azubuike Ezechukwu while appreciating Governor Soludo for the development he is bringing to their area explained that the initial problems arising from the demolished structures have been settled as about ninety percent of those affected have been compensated .

 

 

Chief Ezechukwu pledged the support of the people of Ekwulobia to ensure that the job is delivered on schedule noting that the project when completed will end gridlock being experienced on the road especially during festive period.
