Njikoka Local Government Area council has launched a donation drive geared at procuring patrol vehicles and communication equipment for the two police divisions in the council area as well as the Njikoka Strike Force.
The Transition Committee Chairman, Honourable Clem Aguiyi while setting up the Security Donation Committee named AVM Ben Chiobi retied as the General Coordinator.
Community coordinators were also appointed from six various communities representing the council.
According to Honourable Aguiyi, the Committee is to reach out to key stakeholders with a target to raise eighteen million naira at the short term for the immediate needs of the police.
The TC Chairman lamented that the security agents, particularly the police are challenged due to lack of basic communication equipment and operational vehicles.
He regretted the situation where security personnel are unable to respond to emergencies and distress calls due to shortage of facilities and called on well-meaning stakeholders to rise the occasion by supporting the Security Fund drive.
