The Christian community will on Wednesday August 23, 2023 converge on Oraifite, Ekwusigo local government area for the dedication of Christ Church, Irefi, Oraifite built to the glory of God by Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, SEOF.
The Primate of All Nigeria and Archbishop Metropolitan, Most Rev’d. Dr. Henry Ndukuba leading the College of Bishops of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, will preside over the special service that will also feature memorial and thanksgiving service of the patriarch and matriarch of the Okwuosa family, Sir Godfrey Egbuniwe & Dame Irene Nneka Mmachukwu Okwuosa, both of blessed memory.
The event will hold at the church complex located at Sir Egbuniwe Okwuosa Close, off Christ Church Road, Irefi-Oraifite, commencing at 10am. The dedication will mark a new dawn in evangelism and spirituality in Oraifite as the new church is prayed to recover many souls for Christ. Oraifite, no doubt, needs great spiritual revival and aggressive evangelism at this time.
The patriarch of the Okwuosa family, Sir Egbumiwe paid his dues to better the destiny of Oraifite. Regarded by many as a disciplinarian and Christian General, Pa Okwuosa worked in many mission schools in Oraifite and parts of Anambra where he impacted so much on the students. Pa Okwuosa died for the peace and unity of Oraifite after producing sons and daughters that are presently taking Oraifite, Anambra and Nigeria to new levels in all frontiers of development.
Oraifite community will also not thank God enough for the life of Dame Irene Okwuosa. Dame Irene was a great mentor and renowned teacher who loved, cared and catered for people, raising the moral tone of the community especially among girls and women. She worked hard to help raise a godly generation causing positive change to the church and society at large. She always prayed for an institution in Oraifite that will alleviate the sufferings of people with challenging medical cases. The prayer was answered in a multi-million dollar investment in advanced medical science and critical care management made by OilServ Group, Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation( SEOF) and VOOM Foundation USA. The investment known as Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital, Oraifite is a world class cardio-thoracic facility.
Today, Nigeria’s medical tourism is no doubt receiving a big boost as the hospital recently hit a healthcare milestone in Africa when it performed, free of cost, three open-heart surgeries in a day and a total 25 open-heart surgeries in less than two weeks during its May 2022 medical mission.
During the event of the church dedication, new roads and erosion control projects built in Oraifite by Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation will also be commissioned. These projects are part of the foundation’s effort to ensure liveable and prosperous Oraifite. As a result of this erosion control projects, several farmers and families now heave a sigh of relief as they no longer fear the flooding of their houses and farmlands.
In education, the foundation has launched Oraifite to new levels in secondary education. Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Convent is a centre for academic excellence and the pride of the people of Nnewi Diocese and Anambra state. The convent raises academic giants that are self-reliant, disciplined and possess the entrepreneurial mindset to create jobs. Public secondary schools in Oraifite including Oraifite Grammar School are also beneficiaries of the foundation receiving scholarships and infrastructural facelifts. In fact, the people of Oraifite can never thank God enough for raising Engr.Dr. Emeka Okwuosa from the community.
The foundation’s youth and community empowerment programme and regular provision of reliefs to every household in Oraifite is well known. Engr. Okwuosa is the highest employer of labour in Ekwusigo with over 200 Oraifite youths working in his company. His skill acquisition and youth empowerment programmes have established over 100 young men in Oraifite.
Visitors who will stream into Oraifite for the dedication of Christ Church will truly testify to the infrastructural investments Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation has made in the community and beyond. The federal and state govts had earlier appreciated Engr. Okwuosa for his uncommon humanitarian initiatives designed to uplift mankind. This philanthropist per excellence wants the church to invade every home in Oraifite with the gospel of salvation to help keep Oraifite in peace, love and unity of purpose.
