This Month’s sanitation exercise as monitored by the ABS crew recorded successes in many areas.
ABS monitored the exercise at Oye Olisa market, Afor Nkpor, Ugwu Nwasike and Nkpor junction report that there was compliance in all the areas except Afor Igwe Market and Ugwu Nwasike.
At Oye Olisa Market, Afor Nkpor and Nkpor junction, all the shops were under lock and key while individuals were seen desisting drainages and clearing bushes in front of their compounds.
Speaking to the ABS during the exercise, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Chief Chuks -Brown Igboanua said that they have continued to record improvement in compliance.
Chief Igboanua said that they will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the green, clean and leviable environment agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is achieved.
He said that they are recoding success because of the awareness they always create towards the end of the month to remind people about the exercise adding that those who violated the exercise were made to stay back at the council secretariat till the end of the exercise.
Some residents of Nkpor who spoke to the ABS including Messrs Sunday Uyawune and Chris Udo said they were subjected to desilt their drainages on regular basis because people dump refuse inside drainages whenever it rains, calling on government to put an end to indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
