The Marine Craft Builders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has asked the Federal and state governments to consider a broader attention to riverine communities in its palliative measures occasioned by the removal of oil subsidy.
The Director General of the Marine Craft Builders Association of Nigeria, Mr Clem Ifezue was speaking shortly after a meeting of the group in Port Harcourt.
The director general told reporters that riverine communities are the worst hit by the oil subsidy removal.
He said the association has capacity to produce boats for water transportation across the country.
Mr Ifezue further advised the federal government to tap into the huge potentials of the Marine sector, adding that the sector contributes to the gross domestic product aside from its capacity to provide employment to Nigerians.
The media briefing was attended by the Board of Trustees chairman of the association, Chief Frank Orewole, among other top brass of the association.
