Many stakeholders have extolled the Transition Committee Chairman for Idemili South, Mrs. Amaka Obi, for her developmental strides within her one year in office.

 

Idemili South, which is among the twenty local government areas in Anambra state was created by the General Ibrahim Babangida administration in 1991 and has witnessed steady growth and development, which the current TC Chairman, Mrs. Obi has continued on that trajectory.

The state Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye during the event to mark Mrs. Obi one year in office noted that the TC Chairman has surpassed expectations and achieved great feat for the local government in spite being the only woman in her position, assuring that the party is determined to bring governance and dividends of democracy closer to the people.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji said her achievements are commendable, as her efforts are bringing the Soludo’s leadership mantra to the grassroots, noting that carrying everybody along is an effort in the right direction.

 

Mrs. Obi in her address listed some of her achievements to include, setting up of a forty-man security personnel to work with other security agencies in ensuring security at the local government, construction of roads within the council area and setting up of a road maintenance agency and free medical programme for the people amongst numerous other achievements.

She pointed out that governance is about rendering services to the people and identifying their needs makes their needs and ensuring that those needs are met. She expressed appreciation to Governor Soludo for finding her worthy to serve.

 

An APGA Stakeholder, Sir Jude Emecheta said the achievements of the TC Chairman is very impressive, which anybody can visibly see and testify to.

 

Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, President General of Alor, Chief Emma Ojukwu and the APGA Secretary for Idemili South, Mr. Ofido Omega n their separate reactions extolled the achievements of the TC Chairman, noting that she has judiciously made use of resources at her disposal to improve the welfare of the local government counci.

The event which was well attended by traditional rulers, Presidents General and party faithful also featured presentations of souvenirs by different groups to the TC Chairman.
