The Need for youths to build a career for themselves before venturing into politics and other forms of leadership was emphasized during the twelfth edition of Youth Forum organized by the Education Committee of Nnokwa Progress Union, Lagos branch.

 

The event attracted pupils and students drawn from primary school, secondary school and tertiary levels of education who are mostly indigenes of Nnokwa in Idemili South council area.

In an opening remark, the Chairman on the occasion, Sir Benson Ajaegbu, took the pupils and students through the history of Nnokwa, noting that it is necessary for them to know their origin, as it will equally make them to think home and trace their true identity as Ndi Nnokwa citizens, noting that it is very hard for some of the children who are staying with their parents abroad to give details of their home town and the state they came from.

 

While addressing the students, the Chairman Nnokwa Progress Union, Lagos branch, Nze Clement Ezegbunam noted that Nnokwa as town holds her youths on high esteem which is why they are directly involved in shaping their future through constantly organizing a healthy programme like the event in order to help develop them the more.

The Chairman also urged students to always endeavor to be good ambassadors of their family, town and country at large anywhere and anytime.

 

In a paper presentation, a one time House of Assembly member representing Idemili South constituency, Barr Ebele Obi while speaking on the theme of the event, developing your leadership potential key to succeeding in politics, advised the students to build career for themselves before venturing into politics so that they can prepare themselves on how to deliver value to the people with the spirit of serving humanity selflessly.

 

Another keynote speaker, and Managing Director of Neimeth International, Pharmacist Valentine Okelu enumerated certain qualities like determination, being courageous and having passion in what one does as vital requirements for one to make a good leader.

The chairman of the Education Committee, Engineer Nnaemeka Nwamara and the Secretary, Nnokwa Progress Union, Lagos branch, Honourable Gozie Obijekwu thanked God for the success of the event.

 

They called on the youths to be proud of Nnokwa, adding that more educational programmes will always come to them and advised them to make good of all the opportunities before them.

 

In separate interviews, Miss Chisom Okwuba, and Chiamaka Chukwujekwu thanked the Education Committee members and the entire Nnokwa Progress Union Lagos branch for availing them the opportunity to learn more about politics and entrepreneurship, adding that what they have learned will help them in making a better decision in life.
