Commuters plying Enugu-Onitsha express road would now heave a sigh of relief following major rehabilitation work done on the failed portion of the Agu-Awka axis of the road by Anambra state government.
The on going intervention on the road and reports that commuters were in high spirits as they were seen watching with excitement while the work was on going.
When ABS arrived the area, laying of asphalt was on going on the failed portion of the road with materials and personnel available for the job.
Speaking to the ABS, the Project Supervisor, Engineer Azuka Egwuatu said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo mandated the Ministry of Works to fix the road and other failed portions of roads to enhance movement in parts of the state.
Engineer Egwuatu, a staff of Anambra state Ministry of Works noted that they are also carrying out intervention work on Amansea old road, Awka road and New Cemetery Road in Onitsha and Onitsha Asaba-express road by Uga junction as directed by Governor Soludo, and assured that more roads will witness interventions as soon as the rains subside.
