Governor Chukwuma Soludo has all denominations of the church in Nigeria to help uplift the poor at this trying period in the Country’s history.
Governor Soludo was speaking at the 14th General Synod, Church of Nigeria, Nnewi, 2023, themed: “Arise and Build: God’s Mandate For God’s People In A Broken Worl
The Governor was accompanied to the event by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, National Chairman of APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, among others.
According to the Governor, the church as major stakeholder, have the capacity to encourage people to play their respective roles in the journey towards building a viable society everyone can be proud to identify with.
While commending the church for already doing alot, Governor Soludo who preached ecumenism, stressed that the church, being the light of the world cannot get to anywhere, walking alone.
In his address, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend
. Henry Ndukuba, observed that Nigerians need a new constitution to entrench true federalism as the foundation for a stronger future.
The Primate added that the measures by government to cushion the effects of the petrol subsidy removal are inadequate and unsustainable, advocating giving young people opportunities to discourage brain drain while government should also make conscious effort to improve security, economy, health, education, technology and brule of law.
In his speech, Archbishop of Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim lamented that the society is in perilous times and in shambles stressing the need for everyone to rise and rebuild what was broken.
Also speaking the President of the Christian Council of Nigeria, Most Reverend. David Onuoha said that the church faces a broad spectrum of challenges, especially in the Northern part of the country and disclosed that the priority of the Council is to relaunch Christianity in the North.
The event held at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Nnewi also had Archbishops, Bishops and delegates from all over Nigeria in attendance.
