Ministers of God and other workers in the Lord’s vineyard have been charged to always serve God with diligence.
The charge was given during the collation of six persons as statutory canons of the Cathedral and four persons as Archdeacons in the Diocese on the Niger at the All-Saints Cathedral, Onitsha.
The Bishop of Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo who presided over the service, charged them to take the work of God and the Diocese to greater heights.
The Archdeacon, Onitsha South Archdeaconry, Venerable Josiah Ofoegbu in a sermon during the service reminded the new Canons and Archdeacons that Christian race is a struggle, advising them to develop themselves before God, take the work of God seriously and handle the word of God correctly encouraging them not to waiver in the midst of challenges.
He further urged privileged individuals to take care of the poor in their midst as enshrined in the Holy scripture.
The statutory Canons of the Cathedral later took oath of canonical obedience.
Some of the new canons include Ndubuisi Amaechina, James Achugbu among others while Venerable Nwachukwu Uzo-Okeke, Dr. Samuel Uzodimma were among the Archdeacons.
A special anthem by the cathedral choir added glamour to the service.
