Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate Court sitting in Awka has remanded four suspects for committing offenses bordering on defilement, conspiracy, attempted murder, attack with harmful substance and false pretense to help childless couple adopt children at the sum of two million, three hundred thousand naira.

 

The suspects include Arinze Achị, aka Small, Michael Oliseh Ilomba, Victoria Okonkwo and Adaobi Jerman Ikeoha.

 

Arinze Achị, aka Small, a nineteen-year-old trader at Chrisland 3-3 Onitsha was arraigned before the court for defiling a minor; contrary to section thirty-four subsection two of the Child’s Rights Law of Anambra State, 2004, while Victoria Okonkwo, aged thirty-eight, of Etiti Awovu village of Enugwu-Ukwu was said to have attacked someone with harmful substance; contrary to section twenty-three subsection one of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Prevention Law of Anambra state.

 

Michael Oliseh Ilomba, aged twenty-four, of Asomnga village in Ugwunabo Local Government Area of Abia state was said to have conspired and attempted to murder one Uchechukwu Uchendu of Isuofia; contrary to section two hundred and seventy-five of the Criminal Code Cap thirty-six, Volume Two 1991, while Adaobi Jerman Ikeoha, a native of Ifitedunu and social worker at Idemili North Local Government Area of the state was arraigned on three-count charge bordering on intent to defraud childless couple.

 

Bail was granted to Adaobi Jerman Ikeoha to the tune of five hundred thousand naira only; with a surety within the jurisdiction of the court, who has a valid means of identification.

 

The court adjourned the case to twenty-fifth October, first November and eight November for definite hearing.
