Preparations are on top gear for the upcoming Anambra Arts and Craft Exhibition scheduled for twenty-seventh to thirtieth September 2023 at Oma Event Center Awka, as prospective exhibitors and sponsors of the programme are already filling up.

This was disclosed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji, while playing host to DJ Association of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter in his office in Awka.

Commissioner Onyenji called on artists and crafts enthusiasts to make a name for themselves by exhibiting their works, meeting their collectors and buyers, as well as celebrating creativity and exploring opportunities to conquer their world.

The Commissioner charged the DJs in the state to always promote Anambra Artists for them to become popular like their colleagues in the west.

He regretted that most musical label owners do not receive their due royalties but encouraged them to seek redress with the Nigerian Copyright Commission whenever their rights are infringed upon.

While encouraging DJs in the state to identify with their association, the Commissioner told them to always involve his ministry whenever they are to take any decision to ensure orderliness.

Comrade Onyenji noted that payment of taxes is one of the ways of legalizing organizations.

On his part, the Anambra State Chairman DJs Association of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter Mr. Chinedu Offiah said they came to notify the state government that they have started paying tax to the federal government for the protection of their business.

He also stated their intention to partner the state government as part of their civic responsibility to the state.

The state DJ chairman urged their colleagues who have not registered with them to do so in their own interest, and cited section seven, eight, and nine of the copyright Act 2022 which empowers the Nigerian Copyright Commission to collect musical royalties and distribute to music label owners accordingly.

Representatives of the Nigerian Copyright Commission were part of the entourage that visited the Commissioner.
