The Anambra State Head of service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe has charged female and spouses of male civil servants to avail themselves the opportunity of cervical cancer screening exercise that will take place at the Conference Hall office of the Head of Service at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat complex in Awka.

 

In a release personally endorsed by Barrister Igwegbe, the free cervical screening exercise which will take place tomorrow beginning at ten o’clock in the morning, is being organized by the Wife of the governor of Anambra State Mrs. Nonye Soludo in collaboration with the World Health Organization.

 

According to the release, cervical cancer is a very significant public health concern, which early detection through screenings can make a great difference in saving lives.

 

Describing the initiative as one aimed at promoting Women’s health and creating awareness on the imperative of cervical cancer screening, the Head of Service, commended the wife of the Governor for all her efforts towards improving the living standards of the people, and called for its sustainability.

 

On the free education policy of the present Soludo administration for pupils in primary schools and junior secondary one to three and reduction of school fees of those in senior secondary, Barrister Igwegbe described the gesture as a clear indication that Professor Soludo is a Governor who has the interest of the people at heart.

 

The Anambra State Head of service charged teachers in public primary and secondary Schools to help the government in achieving its free education policy and urged Nigerians to use the sixty third Independence anniversary in praying for those in authority in addition to the corporate existence of the Nigerian Nation.
