Intercessor Amby Chukwunenye Ukachukwu was born on August 6, 1962, in Iri Amam Village, Isiagu Awulukwu, Awka South L.G.A. of Anambra state, into the family of Edward Ukanwaoti Nwobu. Amby lost his father as a child. Despite this, he remained determined to fight on.
Amby completed his primary education at the Community Primary School, Isiagu, where he received his First School Leaving Certificate, and continued his secondary education at Lagos State. However, he was unable to complete his education owing to unexpected events. Subsequently, driven by his passion for learning, he attended the School of Theology at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University. In 2008, Amby traveled to Israel for academic purposes and graduated with a Diploma.
Eventually, God called him to his service. But even Before then, his mother had dedicated him to God’s work in fulfillment of a vow she made to the Lord when she was asking for a male child, just like Hannah in the Bible.
Amby initially wanted to be a Reverend Father, but it was not God’s plan for his life. Finally, he took a bold step in his missionary journey after the founder of Christian Prayer Band, Ufuma made it clear that he would serve the Lord by being an instrument in God’s hands. He instantly acknowledged the prophecy and returned to his hamlet in Iri Amam as directed by the prophet.
Amby founded a church in 1988 with just a few members. He carried on despite the taunts and insults that were directed at him. He continued working until God provided him a partner, Pastor Faith Ukachukwu, in 1991. Subsequently, the ministry witnessed an increase to the level that he became the General Overseer of Gospel Voice Ministry, also known as the Practical Church.
While serving the Lord, Late Intercessor Amby Ukachukwu traveled to many countries of the world. He was a devout man of God. He was able to create a new
method of publicity as a result of spreading the word about God and healing throughout the nation. Before he started radio broadcasts in 1990 from ABS Radi and Purity FM, Ukachukwu first used church bulletins as a means of publicity.
Some of those messages that had a significant positive impact on people’s lives were: Ebule Dua Azu Obia Ogu; Okwu kolu n’elu, ewere ngu kotute ya; and Obi gburu ikpere mana odaghi ada;. He also reached out to many through Hossana Satellite TV and Alpha Radio, Nnobi.
The late intercessor Amby positively impacted many people’s lives directly and indirectly. His marriage to Pastor Faith was blessed with five sons – Barrister Somadina, Marvelous, Ifechukwu, Nzube and Esom Ukachukwu as well as one adopted daughter, two daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs Joy Ukachukwu, brothers, sisters and numerous other relations.
Intercessor Amby Chukwunenye Ukachukwu was a good father; he valued his relationship with his wife and children and instilled in them the fear of God. He also made sure that all of his family members—both his biological and adopted children received the same amount of love. He placed a higher emphasis on his family than any other secular activities. He was always there for his family and his church members that made everyone who came across him to refer to him as “Daddy” because he was a father to everyone who came across him.
Intercessor Amby Chukwunenye Ukachukwu passed away on June 10, 2023. It didn’t come as a surprise to them because God had earlier revealed it to his family and church members in 2018 when Amby foretold his demise. He had informed them then that his work was complete and that he would be starting a journey that he was unsure of his return date.
