Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged youths to deploy their energy towards making healthy living a culture.

The governor’s wife was speaking at the Awka South council headquarters during her ongoing grassroots youths engagement across the twenty-one local government areas of Anambra State.

Addressing the youths, Mrs Soludo said that her crusade is not only to promote healthy lifestyle, but also on changing harmful social issues including cultism, drug use among children and child raising problems.

She noted that healthy living remains an indispensable aspect of life, explaining that her aim is to lead a campaign for a healthy Anambra State beginning from the home.

The governor’s wife further restated that she hopes to use the programme to touch many lives, with the prime target being to establish a sustainable philosophy of health that will benefit all ages.

On his part, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Aghamba commended the governor’s wife for taking the crusade directly to youths in the grassroots, and pledged to continue to support the programme by getting more youths involved in the process.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike was available to teach the youths important aspects of the exercise, one of which is the elementary knowledge of emergency basic life support skills.

Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman for Awka South Local Government Area, Mr ThankGod Anagor underscored the importance of health to a productive society, noting that with the rampant cases of mental health challenges, the crusade will solve disturbing societal issues.

Youth representatives from towns in Awka South, including corps members serving in the Local Government Area, were at the event.

The president of the youth wing of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Comrade Ken Okoli, was also present.
