The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa has called on journalists to always be guided by the ethics of their profession while discharging their duties.

Barrister Ezeokenwa made the call when the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra state Chapter paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the APGA Secretariat, Agu-Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.

The APGA National Chairman while identifying dissemination of information without fear or favour as the major role of journalists, said that journalists in this dispensation must distinguish themselves through their ethical reportage as everyone now claims to be journalists, because of the emergence of social media, and called on the NUJ to device means of checkmating the excesses of social media users who peddle fake news and portray journalism profession in bad light.

Barrister Ezeokenwa appealed to the Anambra state NUJ to support the administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, which he said came with a clear vision to reposition the state for the benefit of the residents especially the downtrodden.

Stressing that his leadership is committed to total transformation of APGA as a political party, and making the party the viable platform for providing ideal leaders for Nigerians.

The APGA Chairman assured that he will continue to partner the NUJ Anambra state chapter as the roles of journalists in the development of any society cannot be overemphasized.

Earlier, the Anambra state NUJ Chairman, Dr Emeka Odogwu commended the APGA national boss for the various efforts he is making towards changing the narratives in the party and the society at large, and encouraged him to endeavour to make an indelible impact with his position.

Dr Odogwu advised him to maintain cordial relationship with the media so as to record desired successes in his tenure, and assured him of the NUJ’s readiness to assist him at all times.

In a vote of thanks, one of the Anambra NUJ members, Dr Obiorah Edeogor thanked Barrister Ezeokenwa for being media friendly and expressed hope that his administration will achieve a lot for APGA as a party.
