The harmonious echoes of Gentle Voice Chorale filled the air as they celebrated their journey of fifteen years with a Festival of Hymns concert.

 

Gentle Voice Chorale is a non-denominational group gifted in the art of music and was formed in 2008, by a music Director, Mr. Chukwuebuka Okoli.

 

This milestone event held in Awka brought together music enthusiasts, supporters and government functionaries.

 

 

Led by the music Director, Mr. Okoli the choir showcased a repertoire of timeless hymns that transcended generations.

 

The evening commenced with a solemn rendition of ” saviour, gain to thy dear name we raise,” setting the tone for an enchanting musical experience.

Throughout the performance, the choir skillfully navigated a diverse range of hymns, like ” I bind unto myself today,” “hark, hark my soul”, “rock of ages cleft for me” ” Let all the World”, Blessed City, Heavenly Salem among other soul- stirring melodies and past and present Nigerian anthems.

 

A standout moment of the evening was the Chorale’s rendition of ” To God Be The Glory, Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior, and Hallelujah Chorus” which brought the entire audience to its feet in a standing ovation.

 

In his speech, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim expressed admiration for the event, describing it as both wonderful and spiritually uplifting.

He noted that the state government backs programmes that encourage righteousness over empty worship and pledged support for the choir.

 

The Commissioner for Information, Sir. Paul Nwosu, and the Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service who was chairman of the event, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, noted that their performances have evolved significantly over the past 15 years, highlighting the positive influence of good music in nurturing young people.

 

The Music Director, Mr. Okoli, and Chairman of Gentle Voice Chorale, Ugochukwu Nwakpadolu expressed gratitude to God for the journey they had embarked on, which he said is a fifteen years of sharing their love for hymns and called for sponsorship.

 

Some patrons of the chorale, including Sir Chuma Chukwuka, Sir. Izuchukwu Nwabueze, Chief JC Nwakpadolu, Sir Jude Emecheta, Mr. Chukwudi Ezenwa and member representing Idemmili South at the State House of Assembly, Barrister Ebuka Igwe, said the group has made great names in the state, pledging more support.
