In two weeks time, Anambra state government will distribute bags of rice to over three hundred thousand households in the state to cushion the effects of the removal of subsidy on petrol.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo disclosed this in his address during the celebration of the sixty third independence anniversary of Nigeria at Dunukofia local government headquarters in Ukpo.
Governor Soludo’s address was read by the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia local government area, Mr. Augustine Onyemaobi.
Governor Soludo emphasized that his administration had among other things rolled out palliatives to ameliorate the sufferings of Ndi Anambra occasioned by removal of subsidy on petrol as well as increased workers’ salaries by ten percent.
He paid glowing tribute to the nation’s founding fathers who despite their imperfections negotiated a competitive federalism as a structure to leapfrog the nation’s ladder of development, adding that at sixty-three, Nigeria still shows flashes of hope for greater future.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Dunukofia local government area, Mr. Emeka Okonkwo who commended the tempo of development in Anambra State under the leadership of Governor Soludo, assured that the party will continue to support him to guarantee the realization of his vision for the State.
In their contributions, the Transitional Ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Dr. Emeka Ilouno and his Nawgu counterpart, Igwe Geoge Okaa Onwuogu commended the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia local government area, Mr. Onyemaobi for localizing Governor Soludo’s agenda in the local government area.
The occasion climaxed with march past by primary and secondary schools within the local government area.
