The Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya has led a high-powered state government delegation on a working visit to Kaduna State.

This follows the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to the ministry to carry out a peer review of Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources with particular emphasis on its solid mineral’s development plans and strategy.

Commissioner Ifeanya and his team were on arrival at Kaduna State, received by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources. Mr. Abubakar Buba and his Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abba Umar.

They were later taken round the ministry by the Director of Mineral Resources, Mr. Caleb Guruza and the Chief Geologist, Mr. Kenneth Tsuwang before visiting the Managing Director, Kaduna Mining Development Company, KMDC.

According to Commissioner Ifeanya, from their discussions, visits and documents provided by the technical team of the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, they observed among numerous other findings that Kaduna State is able to harness its potential in numerous solid minerals due to the frame works it put in place while Anambra has the same frame works in place but lack implementation.

While appealing to Governor Soludo to approve the establishment of solid mineral databank, detailed geological survey, acquiring exploration, mining and quarry licences and linking the ministry to ministry of Land’s website for GIS services, Barrister Ifeanya described functional solid mineral development company as a panacea for solid mineral resources development in the state.

Their visit climaxed with a visit to a prospective Lithium metal processing plant under construction at the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis, receipt of some documents and collection of rock samples.
