The Anambra State House Of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Transport and the Managing Director of Anambra Road Transport Management Agency to commence full implementation of traffic laws to regulate the activities of commercial drivers in Onitsha and other urban areas of the state.

 

The resolution was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the member representing Ogbaru One Constituency, Honourable Noble Igwe who lamented the flagrant disrespect of traffic regulations by commercial bus drivers who have continued to abuse the extant regulations on highways.

 

He maintained that if proper orientation and necessary actions are taken to reprimand them by the relevant authorities, the activities of these commercial bus drivers will be put to check.

 

Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Udeze also called on the relevant authorities to carry out the resolution of the House to make the areas safe for motorists.

 

At plenary, the House also passed another resolution commending Governor Soludo for the palliative works going on at the various erosion sites at Nnobi-Nkpor road and Oba expressway.

 

The member representing Idemili South Constituency, Honourable Ebuka Igwe who sponsored the motion expressed satisfaction that the ongoing palliative measures by Governor Soludo will go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of road users and will prevent a total collapse of the road.
