Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has called on all the local governments coming for the review and verification of their audited account for the year 2022 to appear with all the relevant documents that will enable them ascertain the level of transparency in their Local Government.

 

The Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Noble Igwe made the call when the Committee reviewed the audited account of Aguata, Nnewi North, Orumba North and Onitsha South Local Government Areas at House of Assembly complex in Awka.

 

The Committee commended the top officials of Aguata Local Government Area for executing twenty-two laudable projects in the local government area as their documentations were in order and commended the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government, Dr Chibueze Oforbuike for doing well.

 

In a vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Oforbuike appreciated the Committee for being thorough in discharging its oversight duty and assured that they will always follow due process in piloting the affairs of the local government.

 

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Engineer Chris Obiora explained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is constructing Okpuno Eze junction to Nnewi Hotel Road and awarded contract for the construction of Bank road-Ibeto junction-Saint Mary’s Anglican Church, Uruagu Nnewi road, carried out palliative works on dilapidated roads within the Local Government as well as reconstructed failed drainages and culverts in the area among others.

 

He also observed that the review of Local Government audited accounts for the year 2022 by the Committee will encourage checks and balances and accountability in Local Government administration.
