The traditional ruler of Awka Community Obi Gibson Nwosu says the 2023 New yam festival organized by the Anambra State government at the Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka as another testament that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to safeguarding the rich Cultural heritage of Ndigbo.

 

Speaking to Newsmen, Obi Nwosu described the new yam festival which was recently celebrated in Awka as one capable of uniting all the communities across the state and called for its sustainability.

 

Obi Nwosu who expressed worry over what he described as the inability of some Igbo parents to converse with their children in their mother tongue, called for the compulsory teaching and learning of Igbo language and culture in all the schools in the South East as part of efforts aimed at saving Igbo language and culture from going into extinction.

 

He charged Ndigbo to always engage in acts capable of projecting their rich cultural heritage before the international Community.

 

Obi Nwosu who described culture as people’s way of life, called on various communities to always use their culture in bringing peace and unity for enhanced development.
