Work is in progress at Isiagu junction and Ukwuorji end road project in Awka South Local Government Area.
The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works made the observation when they oversighted the project to ascertain the stage of the project.
On arrival at the projet sites, the Committee met the project manager and equipment on sight working.
Commenting on the project, the Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Emma Nwafor, observed that the construction firm handling the five-point seven-kilometer road is working according to specifications, but pointed out areas that need to be removed to avoid structural collapse.
Engineer Nwafor directed them to stick to specifications as the Committee will revisit the project in a shortest possible time for further oversight.
Conducting the Committee round the project, the Project Manager, Engineer Olimide Timilayo, explained the project is at earth work stage; after which the stabilization of the road will follow suit.
He told the Committee that they slowed the project due to weather condition to avoid execution of shoddy jobs, assuring that they will deliver the project within the stipulated time.
The Committee also oversighted the Amansea – Ifite road; where they met the project manager and Managing Director of the firm in charge of the project, as well as equipment on site working according to specifications.
The Committee observed that the drainages being constructed by the firm handling the project is of high quality and will stand the test of time.
