It was celebration of cultural heritage and Awka tradition during the Ozo Awka title ceremony of Chief Ajuluchukwu Ositadima of Ifite community, Awka South Local Government Area, as family, friends and well-wishers joined to facilitate him in taking the apex title in Awka.

According to Ozo Obi Ochije-Mmodilim, an Ozo Awka titled man, is one who has achieved great level of success in his personal and community life, a wealthy person who has dignity and respect within the community, which Chief Ositadima was found worthy to belong to the prestigious Ozo Awka after scaling through the processes of joining, wishing him well and urging him to remain a great ambassador of Awka.

Also speaking, Ozo Nwoye Okoye, who is an Ozo Awka titled man from Ifite Community, expressed happiness for the title taking of a brother, adding that it has been his prayer and wishes Chief Ostiadima well.

Responding, Chief Ositadima, whose Ozo title name is Ozo ‘Egbengu’ after his Ozo title rites which includes, decoration with Ozo paraphernalia of red cap with four feathers, traditional hand fan and Ozo staff and anklets, expressed happiness for receiving the title, assuring that he would serve his community better.

 

Also speaking, his wife, Ojiefi Monica Ositadima who was decorated alongside her husband said culture is unique and expressed delight for being part of Awka culture as she is from Uromi Local Government Area of Edo state, while his daughter, Amaka Ositadima expressed happiness for seeing her parents taking the coveted title and wish them happiness.

The colorful event featured the blowing of the elephant tusk by Ozo Awka titled men to welcome a new member, Egwu Ufvio , the title rites and dance by Ozo ‘Egbengu’ and wife.
