The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim says the quest for earthly wealth and riches lead many to sin against God and caused the society to lose its moral and strong values.
Archbishop Ibezim said this at the Cathedral Church Of Saint Faith Awka during a service of confirmation of three thousand persons and admission of others into Women’s Guild and Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Diocese Of Awka.
Most Reverend Ibezim who is the Bishop of Awka Diocese and Dean of the Cathedral warned Christians who hide to commit different forms of atrocities without remembering that God is omniscient and omnipresent asking them to repent of their wickedness.
While explaining that sin can singularly destroy any society, Archbishop Ibezim lamented that many Christians do not live out the life of Christ in their daily engagements but only come to the church to be on roll call of Christians.
He challenged the newly confirmed members to allow the Holy Spirit they received to direct and lead them in all aspects of their lives while meditating on God’s teachings through prayers and Bible study, and to steadily draw closer to God each day of their lives.
The Archdeacon of the Cathedral, Venerable Samuel Okonkwo, thanked Archbishop Ibezim for all his efforts in the propagation of God’s word and evangelism and promised that they will continue to spread the core values of christianity and undiluted words of God so as to continue to save souls to Christ.
Among the people that attended the service were the President, Mothers’ Union, Province of the Niger and Diocese Of Awka, Mrs Martha Ibezim and the Managing Director, Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi who was among the persons who were newly admitted into Christian Men’s Fellowship and the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Mr Ossy Onuko.
The confirmation and admission service was for the eight parishes in the Cathedral Deanery of the Diocese of Awka.
