The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze has described the death of a renowned constitutional lawyer and elder statesman, Professor Ben Nwabueze as a great loss to Ndi Atani, Ndi Anambra, Ndi Igbo, Nigerians, the International Community as well as the National and International Legal Organisations.
In his Tribute to the Late Professor Nwabueze, a devout Christian who died at the age of ninety-two, Right Honourable Udeze maintained that the constitutional lawyer made giant strides in education development in the country, especially in the legal profession and also played sterling fatherly roles towards the peace and progress of his home state, Anambra.
The Speaker noted that the Late Professor Nwabueze did the state proud in many ways, adding that his tenure as Minister of Education and Youth Development benefitted Ndi Anambra immensely as he approved the citing of the Federal Government College at Nise in Anambra State among other accomplishments.
He recalled the glorious tenure of the Late Legal luminary as the Secretary-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, where he distinguished himself with quality leadership.
Right Honourable Udeze enjoined other notable Nigerians and Anambra citizens to emulate the Late Professor’s selflessness service, humility and love for Anambra State and Nigeria at large by contributing their quota to the service of God and humanity.
The Speaker called on the federal government to name an important Federal Institution after the Late Nwabueze as a mark of respect and recognition for his contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian Nation.
He prayed to God to grant the soul of Nwabueze an eternal rest and give his family members and many other relatives, friends and well-wishers the fortitude to bear the great loss.
