In line with the directive by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to ensure that Anambra roads are properly marked to enable free flow of human and vehicular movement, the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency, ARTMA, has begun marking of roads with double yellow lines in Onitsha.

The double yellow lines indicate areas where vehicles are prohibited from parking, picking, or dropping passengers.

In an interview with the ABS at the Bridge Head axis of Onitsha, the Managing Director of ARTMA, Engr. Emeka Okonkwo said the motive of the exercise is to decongest Anambra roads especially as the yuletide approaches.

He said the agency has made alternative parks where commercial vehicles and tricycles can park, pick, and drop passengers, pointing out that proper road signs will be installed as well to aid road users.

Also speaking, the General Manager ARTMA, Mr. Chidi Umezinwa said the agency will embark on an additional seven days of intensive sensitization to ensure that every road user understands the meaning of the double yellow lines and road signs.

They warned that defaulters of the road signs would be penalized.
