The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo says the role of women in developing and reshaping of the society cannot be overemphasized.

 

Mrs. Soludo was speaking during the thanksgiving service of the 16th Diocesan Women Conference of the Diocese of Niger West held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Anaku, charged women to keep close look into the activities of their families, especially in training of their children, noting that it is the women that will make the positive difference needed by the world.

Mrs. Soludo represented by the Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State, Mrs. Esther Onyekasi, advised the women to watch what they eat, urging them to eat more of fruits and vegetables as well as engage themselves in exercises to maintain a healthy living and commended the Bishop’s wife, Mrs. Ngozika Ekwe and the women of the Diocese for their commitment to developing and evangelizing the area, urging them to keep the tempo.

Also speaking, Anambra Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Tony Ifeanya said that women are the backbone of the society as they control the activities of the home, adding that for the society to be a better place, it must start from home.

 

Commissioner Ifeanya highlighted that Ayamelum Local Government Area has benefited from the development strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in infrastructural development, recruitment of five thousand teachers, employment of health workers, road construction, renovation of General Hospitals and Primary Healthcare centers among others across the state.

In a sermon , the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe stated that one can only get happiness and joy in the word of God as the world is full of challenges, hardship and confusion, noting that God gives fruitfulness to those who move with him.

 

Bishop Ekwe thanked the Governor’s wife for attending the conference and for all her efforts to ensure that people maintain healthy living through her programme and also the development of the state, urging women to be role model and train their children in the ways of God.

In her remarks, the President, Women Ministry of the diocese, Mrs. Ekwe thanked the governor’s wife for keeping to her promise, noting that the Women Conference tailored its programme towards supporting the First Lady’s agenda and programme as they taught the women personal and home hygiene, how to cook and eat natural and organic foods, advised them on the benefits of vegetables and fruits as well as engaged the women on morning exercise for three days of the conference.

 

The Vicar of the host church, Canon Sunday Udegbunam and the Chairman Conference Local Organizing Committee Mr. Samuel Ndibe thanked God for the success of the conference.

 

The theme of the conference was ” In this sign+ conquer”.

 

The Conference featured presentation of awards to Mrs. Cathrine Nnanna and Mrs. Amaka Ifeanya, wife of the Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources among others, cutting of conference cake by the governor’s wife, the Bishop and his wife among other personalities.
