The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has commiserated with the Adazi-Ani community and the entire family of the Late Chief Reuben Igwilo over the demise of their patriarch.

The Catholic Bishop in his condolence message during a requiem mass at Saint Peter’sCatholic Church Adazi-Ani in Anaocha Local Government Area described the deceased as a man who left indelible legacies.

The solemn mass was also attended by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese Peter, Cardinal Okpalaeke and the religious.

 

Bishop Ezeokafor represented by the Chancellor of the Diocese, Reverend Father Charles Ndubisi expressed grief over the death of Chief Igwilo and described him as one of the most vibrant parishioners in the Catholic Diocese of Awka who was always committed to the growth and development of the church.

Earlier in his homily Reverend Father Edwin Obiora stressed the need for Christians to always live spiritual life in Christ in preparation for eternity.

 

Daughters of the deceased, Barrister Ngozi Mbamelu, Mrs. Ebele Megwalu and Mrs. Ifeoma Okpala in separate interviews said that their father lived a fulfilled life, and prayed God to guide their footsteps to inherit the longevity and grace of their father.

For the son in-law of the deceased, Chief Emmanuel Mbamelu and a philanthropist in the community, Chief Godwin Okeke, the late Igwilo was an upright man whose sacrifices were recognized both in the church and lager society.

 

Contributing, the leader of a notable Lagos based social club known as the House, Engineer Obigwe consoled the Igwilo family saying that at one hundred and three, the late Chief Igwilo has left an indelible legacy.

Appreciating the guests, the son of the deceased and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Chukwuneta Igwilo, recalled how their father taught them and showed them how to love and revealed that their father until his death was never hospitalized but lived a healthy and fulfilled life.

 

He added that the late Chief Igwilo was one of the strong pillars of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Adazi-Ani and prayed God to grant their family and guests the longevity and good health of the late Chief Igwilo.

The event was attended by notable individuals and groups including a former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Elections, Mr. Peter Obi, members of Anambra State House of Assembly, the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, captains of industry, among others.
