Centre for Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards of Federal University of Technology Owerri in collaboration with Centre for Environmental Impact Analysis and Laboratory Services Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has organized Tacks A and B Executive workshop on procurement, management, environmental and social standards for civil servants and teachers in the institutions of higher learning.

The workshop which is ongoing at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, attracted participants from Anambra and beyond.

 

Declaring the event open, Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by the State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe described the training as apt in the present Nigeria where public funds are often mismanaged, commending the centre for such capacity building intervention which he said is in tandem with what his administration is doing in the State civil service, and called for its sustenance.

The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Charles Esimone who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Professor Joseph Ikechebelu commended the efforts of the centre in human capital development, assuring that the university will continue to support them to ensure sustainability, even as he asked participants to take the training seriously.

The Director Centre for Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards of Federal University of Technology Owerri, Professor Gloria Chukwudebe and the Co-ordinator Centre for Environmental Impact Analysis and Laboratory Services Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Hugh Mmaduka explained that the target of the workshop is to produce professionals that can implement procurement projects according to environmental and social standards for improved economic development, job creation, well executed government infrastructure, among others.
