Central School Field Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, near the Cathedral Church of Saint John, will, tomorrow, host a four-day annual “Worship and Word” Conference of Aguata Diocese. The conference, which will be the sixth in the series, begins at 3pm.
The programme is part of the spiritual awakening activities lined up by Aguata Diocese of the Anglican communion to make the faithful be in constant touch with their creator. The theme for this year’s conference is: “Means of Transformation ”. which is apt because the society needs those that will lead in transforming it including Nigeria which needs leaders who can bring the needed transformation.
So, as we converge on Ekwulobia tomorrow, Wednesday 6th December, for the worship and word conference, which will end on 9th of December, we should bear in mind that God wants us to seek His face. Through the conference, we can learn a lot about God. This is the essence of the Worship and Word Conference which the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, Ph.D, JP, Ambassador of Peace, and his wife, Chinyere, have packaged for the Diocesan faithful, and other lovers of God.
The spiritual fiesta is a non-denominational gathering as members of the Anglican Church and those from other denominations can participate. It will be presided over by Bishop Ezeofor who also is the National Chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria. He will be assisted by other anointed ministers of God.
Accommodation has been provided for those that will attend the conference, just as feeding and transportation will also be provided.
Bishop Ezeofor is using the Worship and Word Conference to commit the spiritual resources of the church to nation building and accelerate the attainment of a developed Nigeria. He has been tackling this through prayers, messages, trainings, healthcare, social work, advocacy and mobilization. He hopes that this conference will rejuvenate Nigerians to pray more for their nation and leaders.
Prayers for Nigeria, like what Bishop Ezeofor is doing, should be given prominence and be done consistently. The church should specifically pray for family and political leadership, all arms of government, traditional and religious leaders, the education system and for the unity of the country.
This is indeed a good time, the right way to pray for Nigeria, in view of the numerous challenges facing the country such as insecurity, starvation, among others. Prayer, like the Worship and Word Conference, must be an important part of nation building because, as the Bible tells us, without His help, we, as builders, would be labouring in vain.
Those who attained prominence in the Bible used prayer to be in constant contact with God. Abraham, David, Deborah, Esther, Hannah, Moses, Jesus Christ always relied on prayers for God’s intervention in their problems.
Also, It is unfortunate that many youths have gone into idolatry to boost their businesses, only to regret later. This is a golden opportunity for such lost souls to embrace God and receive their salvation. Others who are going back to idolatry should retrace their steps and toe the line of salvation.
In these challenging times, it is important that we continue to seek God’s guidance and support in all our undertakings. And there is no better way to do so than in corporate prayer through the Worship and Word Conference. Notably, salvation only comes from God and Holy Spirit is not a marketable commodity.
Other features of the conference which has both morning and afternoon sessions, include salvation, healing, Bible study, deliverance and marriage counseling. People who attended previous editions will bear witness of the hands of God that was made manifest during the conference and this is the time for you to experience it too. Do not miss it.
