Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo says promoting local brands is a significant strategy for the economic growth of the state and the Nigerian nation.
Governor Soludo who stated this during his visit to Innoson Manufacturing Plant in Nnewi, said that such patronage boosts the local businesses and creates job opportunities.
Apart from touring the older factory of the company, the Governor also visited the new expansion site of the Company sitting on three hectares of land in Nnewi.
According to the Governor, supporting local industries could also help in reducing the dependency on foreign products and supporting the local economy, pointing out that by supporting local brands, especially in rural areas, it can help in preserving traditional craftsmanship and culture.
The Governor commended Chief Innocent Chukwuma for believing in Nigeria and Anambra, noting that while other people are talking of insecurity, Innoson is expanding.
He made mention of ongoing road projects in Nnewi, including the bank road, Isaho to Teaching hospital and others, calling on local brands to come and invest in Anambra, which he described as a viable location.
The Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Vehicles, Chief Chukwuma who spoke through Obinna Chukwuma said that the Governor’s visit was significant, demonstrating his dedication to the advancement of the automobile sector, not only in Anambra but across Nigeria.
While speaking on their new expansion site and their dedication to manufacturing CNG/LNG, he sought government support in fostering an environment conducive for the automobile industry’s growth, as well as collaboration and strategic partnerships, to propel Nigeria to the forefront of the automobile manufacturing industry in Africa.
Chief Chukwuma said that this will create opportunities for the people, adding that they are willing to help grow the Nigerian economy.
The Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, Commissioner for Transportation, Barrister Pat Igwebuike and TC Chairman, Nnewi North, Engineer Chris Obiora, among others, attended the event.
