The traditional ruler of Omor community in Ayamelum Local Government Area, Igwe Chris Chidume has conferred Ozo chieftaincy titles on twelve illustrious indigenes of the community.
The conference was part of the events at the monarch’s 2023 Ofala festival. Emmanuel Chigbata has details
The festivities commenced with showcase of the town’s rich cultures as spirited community youths and masquerades illuminated the scene with traditional dances and rhythmic drumming.
The event, provided opportunities for various cultural groups, age grades, religious organizations, schools, families and individuals in the community and beyond to pay homage to Igwe Chidume
In his address, Igwe Chidume said that the conferment symbolized recognition for the outstanding contributions and performances of the honorees towards the community’s progress.
He reassured the town of more developments, promising the establishment of a bank and a quality hospital, recalling that his reign has provided pipe borne water throughout the community, while calling on government for the construction of roads in the town.
Igwe Chidume presented one million naira to each school represented in the ceremony to help upgrade school facilities.
Commending the traditional ruler for preserving and promoting the town’s cultural heritage, the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi and, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Mr. Anthony Obieze highlighted the state government’s endorsement of cultural enrichment.
On their parts, some of the Ọzọ title recipients, including Chiefs Chinazaoke Adiso, Chuma Aniekwe, and Emmanuel Ọkọnkwo, expressed gratitude for the honor, pledging their commitment to furthering the community’s development through their status and roles.
Some guests in attendance included the former representative of Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Honourable Chinedu Obidigwe, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba among other dignitaries .
