Nigerians have been urged to share love and charity this yuletide to promote national unity and social cohesion.

 

Speaking on Christmas and New Year celebrations, a radio Evangelist, Reverend Peter Ezenwaji said the yuletide should be a period of fellowship in appreciation of Christ’s love and sacrifice for mankind.

 

Reverend Ezenwaji noted that the celebration is a commemoration of the gift of Jesus Christ for salvation of mankind and the greatest lesson and benefits of the celebration should be touching lives of others, identifying with the less privileged to give them a sense of belonging, giving voice to the voiceless, promoting justice, fairness and assisting the downtrodden.

 

He reminded Christians of the need to give priority to the welfare of others, champion the course of kindness, sacrifice and forgiveness to promote the values that Jesus Christ stands for and maintain personal relationship with God.

 

Reverend Ezenwaji who is also a lawyer called on government at all levels and those in positions of authority to put welfare of the people above every other consideration, lamenting that Nigerians have suffered a lot of socioeconomic and political challenges over the year and called for more proactive policies that can stimulate sustainable economic growth.

 

He urged youths to shun crime and anti-social behaviour to protect their future while embracing hard work and dedication to equip themselves properly for productive years in future.

 

Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Ikenna Udechukwu while commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for ensuring conducive environment for people to visit home and celebrate, urged security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and increase their presence in various parts of the state.
