Nigerians have been charged to use the period of Christmas in praying for more peace, unity and progress of the Nigerian-Nation.

 

A business executive, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe who made the call in an interview with Newsmen in Awka, described peace and unity as prerequisite for socio-economic development of any society called on Nigerians to embrace them for even development of the country.

 

Chief Nzekwe who is a community leader in Awka Community regretted that many people are seeing Christmas as the period for too much eating and drinking reminding such people that the period is beyond that, as according to him Christmas is a period to show love to one another in addition to building Bridges of true reconciliation.

 

He charged various Communities in Anambra State to use the Yuletide in organizing events that will Forster peace in order to create an enabling environment for enhanced development of their area.

 

Chief Nzekwe who hails from Umuonaga village Awka, called on the people of Awka especially the Youths to desist from acts capable of making Christmas lose its concept and meaning.

 

He commended the traditional ruler of Awka Community Obi Gibson Nwosu for his fatherly and peaceful disposition in piloting the affairs of Awka traditional institution and called for support and prayers for him and members of his cabinet.

 

Chief Nzekwe extolled the giant strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Anambra State especially in Awka the state capital saying that the ongoing Construction of roads in Awka and plan by the government to build a five-star hotel in the area is a clear indication that Governor Soludo means well for Awka Community and re-assured him of their total support.

 

He called on the people of Anambra State to always safeguard government facilities in their various areas against Vandalization.
