Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has commissioned a male dormitory at Community High School, Akwaeze, Anaocha Council Area, built by Chief Ikenna Okafor, through the Idi Ezeani Nzekwuabuo Foundation.

 

After commissioning the dormitory that has four big halls; with toilet and bathroom, electrical fittings and sleeping bunk, foundation stone was also laid for an administrative block and security post within same school.

Governor Soludo, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, commended Chief Okafor for giving back to the society through scholarships to the indigent, healthcare provision and helping the needy in Akwaeze, describing it as an exemplary act worthy of emulation.

 

Governor Soludo called on well-to-do Ndi Anambra to adopt schools, build community roads and host of other infrastructure that will benefit members of the community , just as Chief Okafor did in Akwaeze community.

In his remark at the event, the host, Chief Okafor, who promise to keep doing more to help and uplift humanity like his late father did, explained that his gestures are not for Akwaeze indigenes alone, but also for other residents in the community, adding that he is making frantic efforts to ensure that Community High School, Akwaeze becomes of best international standard.

 

He also called on people not to be bystanders, but always add value in any way possible, which he said the foundation has been doing in the last ten years of its existence.

In their goodwill messages, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr. Gerald Ozoh, and the President General of Akwaeze, Professor Ignatius Maduka, commended Chief Okafor for building structures for Community High School, Akwaeze at record time, supporting community leadership and the needy.

 

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Anthonia Ezeji, noted that the dormitory will add value to academic activities in the school, as it would contain about two hundred male students, thanking the foundation for its interventions in the school.

The event, which later featured Holy Mass officiated by the Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke, with the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye, numerous Priests, APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa and other personalities in attendance.

 

Over two hundred persons in primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions, including blind students and sickle cell group were later presented with scholarships.
