The Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop Of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has asked privileged individuals to show more commitment in church activities.
Most Reverend Ibezim was speaking at the dedication of a new Ultramodern Vicarage at Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka local government area of Anambra State to mark the four years memorial service in honour of late Pa Samuel Okonkwo and one year memorial of Dame Mercy Anekwe.
The ceremony which began with a church service attracted family members, friends, well wishers and dignitaries who traveled from far and near to join the family in the thanksgiving and memorial service.
Dedicating the new vicarage, Most Reverend Ibezim thanked God for the life of the late couple, noting that their legacy is a testament of the mighty hand of God in their family.
He appreciated the family for changing the face of Immanuel Church as well as their other numerous contributions in the diocese and urge them to uphold their faith while encouraging other members of the community to emulate their philanthropic lifestyle and contribute their quota to church projects in Awka Diocese and development of the community.
In his remarks, the member representing Njikoka One Constituency in Anambra State House Of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Ibemeka noted that Mr. Obinna Anekwe is a young man God is using to bless the people of Enugwu Ukwu through his work of philanthropy, urging other indigenes of Enugwu Ukwu Community both at home and diaspora to embrace the think home philosophy and bring home their investment to help build a livable and prosperous community and homeland for all.
Hon. Ibemeka also prayed for the continued repose of the souls of the deceased and that God will continue to bless and prosper the entire family.
Earlier, the Vicar and Arch Deacon Of Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu Ukwu stated that righteousness attract blessings perpetually while the mouth of the wicked conceals violence, noting that the essence of the gathering was to celebrate and thank God for the good legacies of the late parents of the Anekwe’s family for their passion and dedication to God’s service and support to their neighbors, noting the influence of their selfless services to humanity on their children can not be overemphasized.
He urge members of the Anekwe family to emulate the worthy character and lifestyle of their late parents and use their energy and resources in the service of God and humanity.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Anekwe expressed gratitude to everyone for honouring their invitation and promised to build upon the legacy of his late parents.
He assured of continued commitment and support to the work of God and the diocese as part of his contribution to the growth of the Church and services to humanity.
