The Ogene Ivite Foundation under the leadership of Professor Michael Obiefune has organized the 2023 Ivite Aguleri day celebration in a grand style.

 

The annual event which took place at Justice Chinwuba Memorial Secondary School field, Ivite Aguleri attracted notable sons and daughters of the community, traditional rulers and other dignitaries, including the President General of Aguleri community, Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia.

All the villages in Ivite Aguleri converged on the arena in different attires, masquerades, music and dance groups to showcase their unique culture, even as illustrious sons of Ivite Aguleri community that contributed to the growth and development of the community were honoured with awards as an Ijeles or Super Ijeles.

 

Eze Chukwuemeka Eri while breaking the kolanut, prayed for peace and progress of the community and encouraged them to continue the developmental strides.

A notable son of Ivite Aguleri, Elder Edwin Udeze who described Ivite Aguleri Day as unique, said that it provides them the opportunity to come together and celebrate themselves and plan for the year ahead.

 

Dr Innocent Okonkwo on behalf of the Chairman, gave a rundown of their achievements in the year 2023 and what they plan to achieve in the coming year and advised that other people should key into the Ogene Ivite Foundation initiative as the whole essence is to develop their community.

On his part, an awardee, Prince Hilary Anekwe, harped on the need for communities to adopt collective approach to drive development as government alone cannot do it and thanked the Foundation for recognizing his effort promising to do more, and called on other affluent individuals to join in moving the community forward.

Others who spoke during the event including Engineer Okechukwu Emmanuel and the Secretary, Ivite Aguleri Ruling Council, Comrade Stanley Umeh emphasized the need for communities to uphold and promote their cultures, growth and development.
