The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu has called on affluent citizens of Orumba South both at home and in the diaspora to continue to contribute meaningfully towards the peace, unity and progress of the Council Area.

 

Speaking at the Orumba South Council Secretariat, Umunze during the maiden edition of the Orumba South Stakeholders’ Summit, Prince Uchendu noted that the Summit was aimed at encouraging Ndi Orumba South to develop a road map for sustainable development agenda in the area in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s genuine efforts in fostering massive development in the state.

The Orumba South Council Boss who enumerated some of his administration’s achievements to include rehabilitation and renovation of the Council’s Hall and Ultramodern Canteen, restructuring and beautification of the Council Fence, installation of the Close Circuit Television cameras at Nkwor Umunze, conflicts resolution in different communities, improved worker’s welfare and palliative work on some of the community roads among others, attributing the giant strides to the strong support the Council has received from the government through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs under the watch of the Commissioner, Hon. Tony-Colins Nwabunwanne.

Prince Uchendu while commending Governor Soludo for his special interest in Orumba South, highlighted some of the projects the Governor is undertaking in Orumba South to include the ongoing construction of the Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugwu Umuonyia-Achina road, Ajalli-Akpu-Nawfija-Ufuma- Ogbunka road, Eziagu-Umunze road as well as the ongoing building of the biggest Pharmaceutical company in Africa at Ogboji among other dividends of good governance, and called on the people of the area to continue to give the needed support to the Governor.

 

The Summit’s keynote speaker and former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Emeka Sibeudu enjoined stakeholders in the area to develop a template for a comprehensive development of Orumba South, emphasizing the need for reorientation of the youths of the area to become more useful to themselves and the society at large.

Also in his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion and Retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Chief Chris Ezike, stressed the importance of the Summit in providing an opportunity to enhance communication, build friendship and provide avenue for progress, noting that Orumba South has eminent citizens, talents and resources to support Governor Soludo in his efforts towards the transformation of the state and Orumba South in particular.

 

The Summit attracted notable personalities from Orumba South and beyond such as the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, member representing Orumba South in the state House of Assembly, Chief Emma Nwafor, Prof. Steve Ibenta, Prof. Gershon Ejekam, Anambra State Fire Chief, Engr. Martin Agbili as well as Presidents-general and Traditional Rulers from Orumba South led by their Chairman, Igwe Bernard Emejuo of Eziagu among others.

One of the features of the event was the unveiling of the Fire Fighting Truck and Fire Service Post attracted to Orumba South from the State Government by the Chairman of the Council, Prince Uchendu.
