Marcel Ofomata Foundation has offered Free Medical Services to over two thousand less privileged members of the Society during her Two Day Bi-Annual Free Medical Outreach in three communities in Anambra state with a resolve to ensure that the indigent citizens are given quality health care services.

The free medical outreach took place simultaneously at Isuofia, Nanka and Igboukwu Communities respectively.

The fifteenth in its series, the outreach is an act of giving back to the society and promoting good health for the poor as was decided by the founder, Marcel Ofomata Foundation, Dr Marcel Ofomata.

The outreach comes two times in every year, January and August such that the beneficiaries already made it a point of duty to go for checks and treatment once in six months since the inception of the foundation.

On Friday, 5th January and Saturday, 6th January, the Foundation through the team of professionals comprising, doctors, nurses and other medical personnel provided free medical services including Medical Consultations, Diagnosis/Treatments, Free Surgical Operations, Presentation of Hygiene Packs and Personal Protective equipments, Health Education, blood/sugar Level Test, Laboratory Tests, Eyes Check and Presentation of Free Eye Glasses, Referral and General Health Services among others.

Speaking to the ABS at Ozalla Health Center Isuofia, venue of the outreach at Isuofia, Dr Marcel Ofomata who founded the foundation said his motivation is the joy and relief he sees on the faces of the beneficiaries after each outreach which according to him has never recorded any crisis since inception.

Dr Ofomata maintained that there is no gain giving the services once a year as according to him, because things are extraordinarily expensive and difficult, the beneficiaries find it difficult to follow up with their treatment at regular hospitals, and that was why he follows up with the August outreach to ensure that ailments are treated competently.

He appealed to Anambra state government to intervene in the outreach as the expenses of caring for such number of people is huge on one person even as he added that the outreach is a further way of strengthening Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of providing quality health care for Ndi Anambra.

On his part, the Chief Medical Director, Marcel Ofomata Foundation, Dr Alphonsus Ekanem who is also the coordinator medical and surgeries of the outreach, said they came with pharmacists and other specialists noting that they will introduce eye surgeries in the next edition since they noticed a lot of eye problems as they consult with the patients.

Dr Ekanem while outlining the services they render and will improve on said that the gesture by Dr Ofomata is rare to come by, saying that he dolls out millions of naira to carry out the outreach just to reach out to the less privileged, praying God to continue to bless him and provide the resources with which he touches lives.

Over Two Thousand One Hundred and fifty-six people benefited from the fifteenth edition of the Marcel Ofomata Free Medical Outreach.
